Prototype

These models are based on standardised buildings used across the Great Western Railway network, and the other steam-era companies used similar buildings. The square hut was particularly widely used, appearing at intervals beside the line across the network, to house the tools, etc., for the local track maintenance gang. The longer hut appeared less frequently, being used to house the trolley and larger tools for a bigger gang.

These models were built for an intended model railway layout based on the real station at Lambourn, which is where the fictitious name Malbourn came from.

Source: Buildings scratchbuilt from plastic sheet and strip. Timber framing and window frames all individually applied.
